the above wonderful minolta srt-101 is what i just received from my brother. yep that’s the kind of sibling he is – the kind that will send you a free vintage 35mm camera when you put the word out that you are looking for one. its weird because i always remember ken being a selfish little pain in the butt. some how he changed as he matured :)

actually he’s a pretty good guy. he would have to be since adam and noah’s nickname for him when he was a toddler was “uncle hero dude.”

now i need to figure out how to use this thing.

i never would have imagined it but the stevens point fireworks sunday night had the best finale i have ever seen. after a great evening at tapestry it was a really nice nightcap.

a couple of photos that make me smirk

Monday, June 8th, 2009

i thought i would share these two photos from last night at tapestry. the first is the cover of brad’s music tabs notebook. made me laugh to see tom selleck on it. the second is from the spontaneous game of wiffle ball that started after everything had been taken down and put up from last evening’s gathering. actually i’m not sure how spontaneous it really is when you bring a glove?

this third photo is from the hospital where pam had her pre-surgery mri this afternoon. this is by far the most buff JESUS i have ever seen. “meek and mild” my butt.

i’ve suddenly realized that i have missed shooting photos with my toy cameras. i’ll have to shot some more.

mississippi river bridge

i recently sent some medium format film in for processing. it came back today and i discovered that the first half of the film from my holga was a couple of attempts at making a pano of the mississippi river bridge in baton rouge. above is one of the shots.

Adam's Band Concert

a pano of 4 photos from adam’s concert on february 5, 2009. you can’t see adam’s face (which is pretty typical because he definitely has a nack for hiding it when i am taking photos) but you can see his bassoon. he’s the bassoon on the right. it’s best viewed large. be warned it is a large file.

full-vue

my dad bought me the above spartus full-vue at a garage sell a couple of years ago. it has just been sitting in the “man cave” as decoration until today. i decided i was going to go out and take a view toy camera shots. the polar plunge was today and that is just the kind of event that calls for toy camera photos. since my lubitel is broken at the moment i used the full-vue and my holga. in a couple of weeks we’ll see how the photos turned out.

of course, this could be the only time the full-vue ever gets used because the crank for the film spindle broke while i was reeling the film through its last frame. makes me have mixed feelings about whether i want the photos to be any good or not. on one side of the coin i won’t feel like i really lost anything if the pictures are crap. on the other side it would be nice to know that i did get a couple of good shots from the thing before it died.

SIDE NOTE – as i said above the 2008 stevens point polar plunge was today. the boys and i decided at the last minute to go out and watch some of it. since the place where it is held is dang difficult for the terrell family to find (in other words, we got lost last year and this year) we got there right at the end of it. i’m contemplating trying this again next year. anyhow, here are two of the 3 photos i was actually able to take from the really crummy location we had.

the title pretty much explains the purpose of the photo. for those who are wondering, yes the hook is in my nose, but no it is not all the way through my nose. that part has been photoshoped.

the difference a month can make

what a difference a month makes
i thought y’all might enjoy seeing what the point area looked like a month ago and what it looks like in the same spot during may. both photos were taken at emy j’s (the best little coffee shop in the point area) on the 28th of the month. it’s just that one was in april and the other was in may.

quite a difference huh?
